The Houston Zoo has welcomed two new giant elephant shrews. The mammals are native to Africa. They have long noises which they use to search the rocks and dirt for the insects they like to eat. They also have large round eyes. Take a look:
Will Smith walked the red carpet in Moscow for the premiere of Men in Black 3. E Onlinereports that a local reporter asked for a hug and Smith obliged. Then the reporter started trying to aggressively kiss him, so Will pushed him away and then slapped him with his back hand. Will said later to another reporter, "He tried to kiss me in mouth. This joker, he's lucky I didn't sucker punch him." Take a look:
In this Saturday Night Live skit, candidates for the office of Mayor of Funkytown must answer tough questions in the debate. Taran Killam is the moderator who has two groovy back up dancers. Candidates include the very fly current mayor of Funkytown, Doctor Silky Delicious (Keenan Thompson), Captain Catfish (Will Ferrell), and third party candidate Janet Nichols (Nasim Pedrad). Captain Catfish's running mate is the superfly Mr. Galactic Fantastic (Usher). The candidates sing and dance their answers using their most funky stylings. Usher is absolutely hilarious in this skit -- he manages to steal the show from everyone else, although Kenan and his backup dancers are also really funny. Take a look:
Cosimo Ferrucci from Italy has set the record for the most telephone directories ripped in two minutes from the spine. He ripped 33 phone books in half. This does not look it would be easy. Cosimo, the master phone directory ripper, gets very tired near the end, but he did it. Well done Cosimo! Take a look:
Matt Lauer interviewed Supreme Leader Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen) on the Today show. Aladeen is Cohen's latest character in The Dictator movie. Aladeen, joined by armed female guards, insinuated that he had kidnapped Lauer's wife. He also told Lauer he new he was having an affair with Ann Curry. Aladeen says his country Wadiya is 1,300 miles from Tel Aviv "as the scud flies." Take a loook:
Saturday Night Live's Kristen Wiig did a hilarious impersonation of Tanning Mom Patricia Krentcil. She was a guest on Weekend Update and was literally smoking with heat from all the tanning she does. She did discuss her beauty routine, which is eerily similar to how you would care for a prized baseball glove. Take a look:
In this Saturday Night Live skit, Eli Manning, Bill Hader and Vanessa Bayer and contestants on the easiest gameshow in the world called What Is This? Abby is the hostess who has an ulterior motive for this episode -- mainly, grilling her boyfriend (Eli) about the status of their relationship. We liked the concept of the deranged talk show host and Hader is funny (as always), but the skit needed a bit of punching up. Take a look:
Adam Yauch, better known as MCA of The Beastie Boys, has died at the age of 47. He had battled cancer for three years. In 2009 Adam was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland. The Beastie Boys released this statement:
"It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam 'MCA' Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old."
The world record for the fastest toilet has been broken. Canadian stunt woman Jolene Van Vugt set a record in Australia for the world's fastest motorized toilet. The toilet reached speeds of 46 mph. Here is a video of Jolene zooming around in the remarkably fast toilet. Go Jolene! Take a look:
Miley Cyrus is featured on a new poster for the film, LOL. Starting a new year of high school, Lola (Miley Cryus), (called Lol by her friends), works to find the right balance between family, school, friends and romance. Broken-hearted by her ex, Lol's world is soon turned upside down when she is surprised to find her best friend, Kyle (Douglas Booth), a musician in an up and coming rock band, could possibly be the love of her life. In her quest towards independence, self-identity and young adulthood, Lol discovers that while Facebook "status" is easy to change; true relationships are worth the effort.
Demi Moore plays Miley's mother in the film. LOL was written and directed by Lisa Azuel. Here is the trailer:
Another guy, another super hot pepper. This guy from the Bronx decided to eat a Bhut Jolokia chili pepper, otherwise known as a ghost pepper. It's not the hottest pepper in the world -- another pepper has now claimed that title. Still, the ghost pepper has sent people to the hospital. As the video progresses, his suffering gets worse. He chugs almost a gallon of milk, but nothing seems to help. He eventually has to leave the room to throw up, then comes back to drink more milk. We're not sure why this is so funny -- his intensity? The accent? Watching him chug an entire gallon of milk? Take a look:
Paddy Moloney of the legendary Irish band, The Chieftains, talks about their new album Voice of Ages, which features collaborations with some of today's hottest young indie acts. Paddy said they wanted to do something special to commemorate their 50th anniversary. He said he considered working with older artists, but in the end he wanted to make music with a new generation of indie musicians, such as The Decembrists, Bon Iver and Carolina Chocolate Drops. He says he hears a revival of the great ballads of the 1960s, and he really likes their music. Take a a look:
This cat, named Boo, is very smart. He pulls back on the springy door stop and then releases it to create a loud noise to wake up his owners. Boo's owner says, "He doesn't do it because he's hungry, he does it because he feels lonely. When he flicks the door stop it scares the crap out of us and we wake up right away."
Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence was a guest on the El Hormiguaro Show today, which is filmed in Spanish. The host Pablo Matos asked Jennifer if she had ever shot an arrow at a real person. Jennifer replied "No, I haven't." Well, you know what's coming next. She then was asked to participate in an archery competition where she and he shot rubber tipped arrows at moving crew members.
Even though she was wearing a super tight dress and heels, she channeled her inner Katniss Everdeen and nailed the targets. She is awesome. Take a look:
Justin Bieber, Selena, Ashley Tisdale, Big Time Rush and others recorded a fun video of themselves dancing and lip-syncing to Carly Rae Jepsen's hit, "Call Me Maybe." Bieber even introduced Carly on The Ellen Show. Now, purple haired Katy Perry and her friends have uploaded a "Call Me Maybe" video. Take a look:
Chloe plays a teenager, Carolyn Stoddard, in the comedy Dark Shadows, which arrives in theaters on May 11. She and the rest of her family have to deal with the ancient vampire Barnabas (Johnny Depp). The scenes from the trailer - with Chloe playing a rebellious teenager who is not the least bit impressed with the vampire - are hilarious.
Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton pose for a photograph on the set of their hit show, The Voice. Christina is wearing a dress with a print that is almost an optical illusion. In this hilarious Saturday Night Live digital short, musical guest Gotye discovers that he has two obsessed fans in the cast. Andy Samberg and Taran Killam are so into the video for Gotye's hit "Somebody That I Used to Know" that they cover themselves in body paint and try to blend into the paintings on the wall. Understandably, Gotye finds this extremely alarming. Take a look:
Josh Brolin is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight. In these promos for the show, Josh is joined by cast member Kristen Wiig and singer-songwriter Gotye (Wouter "Wally" De Backer). The trio discuss how Gotye is supposed to be pronounced and who Kristen took to her high school prom. Take a look:
First Lady Michelle Obama was a guest on The Colbert Report Wednesday night to promote Joining Forces. The initiative encourages support for military families and was co-founded by Jill Biden. Michelle discussed unemployment levels for returning veterans and why businesses should hire ex-military. Stephen said veterans are great for morale, because no one can complain much after they hear the veterans' stories about their prior employment. That's for sure. Take a look:

Sofia Vergara played Pictionary on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Sofia thought that dog catchers do not exist. She drew a woman in a dress for some reason. However, she was very quick to guess her partner's drawing. Fallon also interviewed Sofia during her appearance on Late Night. Take a look:
A TMZ photographer was shooting video of Jerry Seinfeld who was out for a bike ride in the city. He tried to do a mini-interview, but his first question was terrible. He asked Jerry what was the worst experience he had bombing -- he was sure that happened to comics all the time. Nonplussed, Jerry then proceeded to critique the young guy's interviewing style and give him some tips to get his clip on the TMZ tv show. He told him that TMZ founder Harvey Levin wants good stuff on that show, and that the guy needs to step up his game. It's pretty funny. Take a look:
The British boy band One Direction performed live at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards. There were loud screams in the teen audience as the band sang, "What Makes You Beautiful." Bieber may have to watch out for this group of young singers. They might lure away his tween fans. Take a look:

Cee Lo Green was the creepy hater voice all along at the 2012 Kids' Choice Awards. It turns out that Cee Lo just wanted to be slimed. KCA host Will Smith said Cee Lo's behavior was unslimeable, so he had his team turn him into an ice cream sundae. Take a look:

Kate Winslet is haunting by the theme song to Titanic, which is "My Heart Will Go On," by Celine Dion. Kate says the song makes her "feel like throwing up. She says people are always "surprising" her with the song when she walks in places. She will probably be hearing it even more now than the film is returning to theaters. Kate also says people make the same jokes whenever she steps onto a boat. Take a look:
Here is a video of Peter the elephant playing with a Samsung tablet, the Galaxy Note. Peter uses his trunk to use music apps and look at photos. He also uses a stylus to draw with a drawing app.
The video was created by Samsung. CBC.ca reports that Samsung says the video is real and no editing tricks were used. There is also some raw footage of Peter using a drum app on the Galaxy Note here. Samsung says in a release taht Peter lives in a quite rural village in Thailand and he already had music and drawing skills.
Researchers have been training orangutans to use iPads and there are apps for cats, so an intelligent creature like an elephant using a tablet is certainly believable. Peter the elephant deserves a much larger tablet though.
Taylor Swift talked about the importance of reading after hosting the Read Now! event at Scholastic global headquarters in New York City. Taylor was interviewed by Kid Reporter Grace McManus. Taylor says, "Reading is important and having an imagination is important. I think that thinking outside the box can only help you in coming up with ideas about what you want to do in life or what you want to do with your next project at school."
Taylor also says reading can make your life better and more fun. Take a look:
Actress Dania Ramirez plays Selena on American Reunion. She wasn't in the original film, but she was thrilled to join the cast. She says the first film, American Pie, is what made her excited to join the cast.
Dania says, "I remember being in high school and watching the first one and absolutely loving it. It was really fun, but there was a sense of the film that felt really honest and pure and real and that all the young conflicts were really personal. For me, growing up in my high school, I felt like I knew someone like each one of those guys."
